Ok I’ll admit it – I enjoy reading about the Royal Family. I got up early to watch the Royal Wedding last year, live. Kate’s dress, William’s uniform, the trees in Westminster – I bought the magazines and PVRd the special programs on TV. And I celebrated the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee with my sister, eating scones and drinking tea. Most recently I watched the Opening Ceremonies on CTV’s website at work, and then watched my favorite bits that night with the recording I had scheduled. You could say I’m a bit of a fan of those royals. Just a bit!
So you can imagine I was intrigued when a picture of Kate appeared in a magazine, showing her exiting a restaurant after a pre-wedding lunch with her future mother-in-law, Camilla. In her hand was a black Burberry clutch and a dark pink notebook. The caption indicated the notebook was a “Smythson” so I immediately googled the name. And I was hooked.
Now, it must be said that I have never seen these products in real life. And they are on the pricey side. But just look at the photos on their website and you will see very high quality, unique leather items, that will make your heart skip a beat. At least mine does. I love the blue pages and the embossing.

I especially love the writing desks. But I would have to remortgage my house to afford the Secretaire!

One of my favorite blogs, notebookstories, has interesting posts on these notebooks and the moral dilemmas of spending so much money on a notebook.
I would like to have one someday but I doubt I will ever be able to justify the price. So for now the website photos will have to do! 🙂
